Hey guys and welcome back to my channel, Blue Nose Trading. My name is Tori Solis, and this year was my first year as a participant in Pot Swap 2022. Pot swap is essentially a holiday pottery swap were 1,000 potters send a pot to some random potter, and receive a pot from a different random potter.
This is my first year participating and it was a lot of fun. I am sending my pot swap partner one of my chicken pots from my last series of chickens. This chicken’s name is Charlie. I like seeing the work I really care about go to people who can truly appreciate it, and understand what all went into the piece. I also wanted to send work that I felt best represented my artistic intentions and myself.
I also included a crazy lace agate necklace. Crazy lace agate is a stone of laughter, so I hope it will help inspire joy in her life. I low-key have a whole line of jewelry on my website, bluenosetrading.com. So, you could look at that if it sounds like something that would interest you. I hand bead my jewelry onto a natural hemp fiber and use natural gemstones and Japanese seed beads in my work.
There’s also a little Texas magnet here made out of our Texas red terracotta, and I included a card that had a little bit of information about my ceramic journey so far. This gift is going off to @rain_girl_ceramics. I really hope it makes the season brighter for her when she opens it.
My potswap from @thepottersrock arrived today! I am so excited to see what they made. This package came all the way from Minnesota. What a different place that is from Texas. To consider the vast differences in our lives, realities and experiences is so interesting to me. Like and entirely different world. This is packed up so well. I am totally going to reuse all of this packaging material. We are about that recycling when we can life around here. I love unboxing, this is like getting a gift on a holiday morning. This was packaged so well. I love the opportunity to see how other people are packaging up their work so I can learn from their practice.
Awe, here is her note about her journey,
“Tori,
Greetings from Minnesota! It is so fun connecting with a fellow clay lover. I have been doing ceramics for over 15 years, but only 2 years out of my home studio. I hope you love this mug and have a wonderful holiday season!
Becca, the potters rock”
That is super awesome, I love that note. And to have a home studio, that's one of my goals. I have a home studio in my living room right now, and having it not in my living room, is a major goal for me. So I bet that's awesome, and congratulations, I bet you worked super hard to get that all together.
Oh my gosh, this mug is so cute! I love the red clay! There is some really cool line work and some really awesome glazing techniques going on here. Absolutely beautiful. This handle is so nice and smooth, and also super big! I can fit my whole hand through it. Look at that makers mark is perfect. My whole hand through it though. Either way, this is perfect I think, for a matcha tea latte. So, let me just... just a second, I think I have to try something here.
Thank you so much @thepottersrock for this amazing mug. It’s a privilege to have a piece of your creative journey. Our art is so wonderful, because it allows us all to have pieces of others and their authentic expression of perspective and creativity in a moment of time. It captures something so ethereal, in such a simple way. Functional handmade carries a piece of the soul that made it, and it hits different than machine mass produced things.
Also, I’d like to give thanks an express gratitude to Becca, Ryan and the @potswapofficial team on Instagram for all the work they put into organizing and hosting this event, this year and every year, thank you guys. What a great community to be a part of. I am so grateful. I'm looking forward to pot swap 2023 already.
I can confirm. This mug is perfect for a matcha tea latte. It fits the same amount as my milk froth pitcher.
