Throwing with New Clay Body | Trinity Spectacular | Learning Pottery Vlog | Ep. 33

Hi guys and welcome back to my channel, Blue Nose Trading. My name is Tori Solis, and today I am throwing Trinity Spectacular. I would say it's a new clay body, but it's

only new to you guys as far as me going over it. I throw this clay often and we are like best friends. This is one of my favorite clay bodies to throw. It's a lot smoother to throw than the speckled buff.

This is a speckled clay. It's made by Trinity Ceramic Supply in Dallas. It's called spec-tacular. I really love this clay. When fired, it fires out a creamy kind of color with big spots. Comparing it to other speckled clays that people are familiar with, like the Laguna Speckled Buff, this one has bigger spots, it's a lot smoother to throw, it's creamier and less honey-burnt colored. I just love this.

The speckles show through on most glazes. When you're throwing it, it's easy to control. It's not too gritty, so it's not tearing up my hands. I love this clay. I'm probably going to have this in heavy rotation, and use it quiet frequently as far as my thrown work.

I love the way that it comes out on planters and mugs. It has a great texture, and a great pattern to stand alone on it's own. I love the way that it behaves with the glazes that I'm using. All around, this clay is just 5 stars from me.

I love this clay. I'll post a link below to where you can find this clay. If you're not local to the Dallas area, it might be harder to come by because this is a local clay that's made by my local ceramics supply shop.

I am going to be doing a review of speckled buff coming up soon-ish. By "soon-ish" I mean that if you're a patron then it will be done really soon. But if you're not a patron in a few months you might get access to it. I strongly suggest that you guys check out my Patreon. I've been creating so much content that I am scheduled out like months and months in advance. So what I'm probably working on today is probably way different than whatever I was working on in whatever video that you're seeing because I am scheduled out pretty far.

I am posting everything immediately to my Patreon. So if you want to stay up to date with the stuff that's happening right now, you can go ahead and join my Patreon. You get early access to all of my videos, as well as early access to all my ceramics.

Honestly, if you're a patron and you're watching a video on something fresh and you're like "wow, I want that cup" or "I want that pot", just send me a message, and I will probably pull it for you because patrons are special like that. Everybody else has to wait for my ceramic shop updates. I'm working on one right now, but it's going to be long over by the time this video comes out.

So if you want access to my shop updates before everybody else and first dibs on all the ceramics that I am making, you can find me at patreon.com/bluenosetrading.

If you'd like to see me review a clay body, you can just let me know. I'll order like 50lbs of it and give it a go. I'm not afraid of doing that for y'all. I enjoy throwing different clays and experimenting with them, seeing how they play with my glazes, and how it turns out.

I am going to have a glaze series coming up. I'm going to be doing a lot of glaze testing,

a lot of experimentation. I'm going to share everything. I'm going to share all the stuff that I'm working on, all the recipes that I come up with, all the results, all the test tiles. I'm going to do some combinations. We are going to test out some clear glazes. We are going all in, and I want to share it with everybody here so that you guys have all of that information to apply to your own ceramic artwork, and maybe not have to do as much testing as I'm doing. I like the testing and I like the experimentation, but not everybody likes that. I would hope that everybody can benefit from it by subscribing to my channel, joining my Patreon, asking me questions. Send me suggestions if you want me to test

something. I've got a lot of supplies and like I said, I love to test stuff. I'm here for it, if y'all are here for it.

I really appreciate you guys tuning into my vlog style work. I'm more of a "show you how to do it" kind of person. I'm not, well I don't consider myself and

excellent teacher because I do most things intuitively. I just kind of feel it out. So I don't have any videos really, I might make some some day, but I just don't think that I'm the one to be like "here's how you throw". I'm still pretty new. My technique is not fool proof, and for the most part I feel things out intuitively. I just, I feel the vibe and I'm like "this ain't right, this doesn't feel right", and make small and minor adjustments based off of feeling. So that's not the best way to teach people. When they're like "oh how do you do that?" and I'm just like "Oh just feel it out man. Just feel the vibe. If the vibe ain't right, the vibe ain't right." There are better channels for things like that. Jon the Potter is a great resource for learning to throw.

Maybe one day I'll figure out how to explain it. But for now, I'm posting weekly videos sharing my experience and sharing everything that I'm learning on my channel, Blue Nose Trading if you'd like to subscribe. If you'd like to support my work and gain

early access, you can find me at patreon.com/bluenosetrading. I appreciate all of your support guys, and I will see you next week with another art video. Thank you so much for tuning in.
